Tommy Miah is to launch a Music and Dining Club to promote a series of gastro-musical evenings once a month on Saturday evenings throughout the year. The aim is to raise funds for various charities in the UK and Bangladesh where Tommy Miah has been raising funds for the past 20 years.
Membership of the Dining Club entitles subscribers to book for a series of private events, each followed by a meal at the Tommy Miah's Raj Hotel with the menu prepared by Tommy Miah, the celebrity chef. Each event begins with an aperitif and canapés. Concerts last about an hour and feature both established artists and promising young musicians from the UK, Bangladesh and India.
Menus are devised to reflect and complement the music, and all products are being sourced locally wherever possible. Wines are chosen to go with the meals and are available for purchase at a reasonable cost. The premises are fully licensed. Accommodation can be arranged at a discount price at the Tommy Miah's Raj Hotel if required.
The first series of Music & Dining Club events began with a tribute to Mohammed Rafi Night, with a menu to match. Provided food for musical thought and a menu embracing special recipes of Tommy Miah's travels. Fine wines from Argentina and Chile sponsored by Cobra.
The most recent series has featured a Gazal evening with a traditional ensemble; a programme of Japanese music; an Indian weekend (cello, table and poetry) that included twelve specially prepared family dishes rarely found in restaurants.
